I have gotten plants on eBay also. I buy only from U.S. based companies whose main business is in the plant nursery trade.

Other favorites include Arid Lands Greenhouses:

For cold hardy cactus:

http://www.miles2go.com is terrific! Great prices and he has the best plants. I also like Arid Lands as well. I do use Ebay but you have to be a little careful there whether you are getting what is pictured or a smaller plant.

EBay definitely. If you're into Haworthias Rennys_haworthia has incredible specimens. He always shows the mother plant plus the offshoot you are bidding on. Decent shipping costs too. There are a lot of Asian and eastern European sellers but I'm kinda wary of the long shipping times. If you're looking for the basic starter plants or cuttings to use in a wreath or diy project then Succulent Source is good. High shipping costs but everything arrives very well packed and intact.

Ebay is too expensive especially their shipping. I love 'Miles to Go' and 'Mesa Gardens' <http://www.mesagarden.com/succplnt.html>. Bob Smoley just passed this spring but his wife Mary is continuing the business, <http://www.bobsmoleys.com/sansev.html>. Also I noticed that many plants are missed labeled on Ebay. Also note joining Paypal for protection when purchasing from ebay.

It is hard to generalize about eBay. Depends on your ability to read between the lines as it were, and your own experience. I do not have issues doing it. No overpriced S&H, plants labeled correctly. Many sellers even throw in an extra plant. Gene

eBay. I just rec'd a nice, well packed package, FedEx, arrived in 2 days. Fair S&H, great price on the rare plant I won. Seller included 2 other plants worth 1/2 of what I paid for all. Gene

So far I haven't had any problems with eBay. I stick to sellers that have 98% plus ratings. I just received a beautiful Haworthia cooperi truncata for under $10 including shipping. 3 huge healthy mother plants with about 15 good sized offshoots. Instant Xmas presents for my plant loving friends.
