Thank you Lynn, Tim, Greg. Colucci, Italian name?
I go hunting of Semps since thirty years and I have many photos of them that I would have the pleasure to share with you. But I am a Jurassic women and I don't Know if I will be able to post the photos. If you wish, you can go to "Cactus & co forum". We have a space devoted to wild italian succulents: "Indigene & Intruse". You can see many photos of Semps and of their environment. I have also wrote some articles for Cactus & co journal. They are in Italian and in English language. One of this: "The mistery of yellow Sempervivum" is on-line. You must look for: "Il giallo del semprevivo giallo" and you find it (in FAB Gruppo Flora Alpina Bergamasca home page). Dowload free.
If you any question about Italian taxa, I will happy to reply you, but please excuse my english.
Bye

Mariangela

The Comba di Vertosan is a interesting place of Aosta Valley. The Sempervivum montanum that are growing in this place, between 1600 and 2180 mt, are very, very large. From 3.5 cm up to 11 cm. Further 2180 mt, the montanum are 2 cm large. The question is: are they subsp montanum or subsp. burnatii? I think subsp. montanum.
Greg, in Vertosan, there is, at 1800 mt height, a nice restaurant. Sticking tongue out

Thank you Tim for correcting the web address, I made the correction in the first post.

Mariangela, the last photo shows such a lovely small colony of sempervivum. And the mountain photo makes me wish I could go there in person and see everything.
