Amazed at how 'floriferous' my little Johnny-Jump-Up is and how long it has been flowering! Will sure have to grow a lot more of these...in the back, away from deer....

It IS filling in and I'm very pleased with it. It's hard to go wrong with the weather here, perfect climate for growing and I have water, this makes my life a good place to be in right now....I brought a few plants with me, had a bunch given to me from my friend, bex, have done a LOT of seed sowing, continuing with that...out adding in more young seedlings today. I do wish I could come up with the cash to do an arbor thing over the front window and over the front border entry...thinking I'll trade antique lamps for lumber....LOL...
It won't be long before we won't be seeing the house next door, or the street or house across the street...things are growing fast for privacy...

Well, I'm thinking a very narrow arbor over that living room window and though Zuzu is in the background screaming "NO!"...I'm thinking akebia...I have 3...also have a Blue Moon wisteria but don't think want that color out there. After I've managed to get these two done, I'd like to continue the same naroow type of arbor across the rest of the front of the house..it would be set back slightly due to the offset of the living room / porch/ door. The front of the house is too blnak, too exposed and yet it really is nice to get sun coming in there with this kind of climate. I've been undecided...
I'm very lucky in that a lot of stuff that I decide I need, I ask Bex if she has it and quite often, either she or her Uncle Ben has it...

Think about "Horse Panels" for arbor material. They are made from galvanized HEAVY wire and you can either just bend it into a arch (about door height) and stake them down or you can use with a wood frame. I bought mine at a local feed store. Here is a site where you can see what I'm talking about. http://3gshayandgrain.com/gate...
There are places where I could use the panels, but not at the front of the house. I need something that will also look good if / when bare. I know what I want to do, just too lazy to dig through the pics to find it. Perhaps I can get my son to put my pics in order....LOL...and now Jer is busy working on other projects anyway...time and money, always one or the other....
Yeah, I've been pretty hung up on garsses the last few years and I have a whole bunch more to put out...LOL...

This really surprised me...Kahili Ginger !!! There just isn't that much really good gardening done around here, sadly, and I usually notice this place only for their stand of Shasta Daisies...and suddenly yesterday I saw the Kahilis...wow...didn't even know they would grow in our climate here....

Yes, Mike.....the echium seeds from you will live on forever...LOL..the Linaria purpurea 'Canon Went' that I grow?...all came from one 4" pot bought from Chris Wotruba at her nusery, Perennial Adventure in Mt. Helix about 20-25 years ago....seeds are just such miraculous things. I did a lot of stuff from seed this year and got a late start with the echium vulgare, still have some very small ones to get in the ground...they wintered over the first winter here, the second winter knocked them out, so I'm glad to see that the ones I got in the ground already are flowering so I will make sure to still keep seed going. You just can't believe how fast things grow here...stick them in the ground, and Bam!...they shoot right up. Seeds from them have already been sent to my friend, Toni, who's moved up here to Coos Bay from Fallbrook...

I've always liked the naked ladies. You get to actually see the blooms instead of all that green stuff getting in the way. Its that belladonna part that stops me from having them. I never know when doofus dog is going to take a bite out of a plant.
Can't complain too loud about how the ball bounces when I'm the one who dropped it.
