LOL, Gene! You do have some good ideas. She's in UK, so sending plant material would be more hassle than benefit. I've never let myself buy plants on the internet, I seem to spend all of my budget very well in stores & on trades and don't have a dime to spare for shipping.
I'm so excited for you, Janet! You may not end up with the same affinity for these weird, rubbery plants that I have, but I think you deserve a chance to get to know it before deciding, for whatever my opinion is worth here, and if it doesn't create too much dischord in your house. I've traded babies of other species for many different plants. People who live where Kals are not hardy seem to love them. Others, not so much. Yes, the babies can fall from the mama to other potted plants, but they're not hard to remove if unwanted.
The Royal Horticultural Society has an entry for it, if that makes you feel more confident it's a "real plant."
