Interested in ordering some "out of the ordinary" coleus seeds and coleus cuttings for next spring. Most of the web sites I've visited offer about the same ones. Interested in both the smaller size pllants as well as the giants - both for shade and some sun. Have looked at Parks, Harris, Burpees offerings and looking for something a little more (actually a lot more) different - especially like reds, oranges, purples, lavenders. Welcome any and all suggestions and comments.

Would actually like to buy a couple of plants or cuttings for wintering over this year if I could find a few to my liking - anxious to get started instead of waiting for sowing seeds this coming spring. Appreciate any and all of your suggestions and comments. Enjoy all the coleus forum posting by members - especially those with photos.

Park Seeds had coleus called watermelon that I grew from seed and it is one if my favorite because of the bright watermelon pink.

Rosy Dawn Gardens has quite a selection but shipping makes it pricey. They have red coral, one of the Under The Sea coleus so I may break down and get that next spring.

Rosy Dawn is top notch for sure.. Hazzards greenhouse always has some special ones.. site doesn't work well on my phone but I bought from them a bunch of times .. putting a bible quote on the seed packs instead of sowing instructions.. is kind of annoying though .. but I buy from parks a lot too

Judy, Allison and Michigan Mike - Thanks for all your helpful info. Rozy Dawn sure has a lot of nice ones. Hazzards Greenhouse is a new source for me - will be sure to look them over carefully. As for seeds, I like Swallowtail's wide variety of selections.

thank you for welcome!
sorry, I should have specified-- I grow from seed-
I've been told that, altho most coleus like shade, there are some varieties that can do full sun.But I don't know which.

Rosy Dawn does list coleus for full sun. It might be a starting point for choosing seeds. They do not sell seeds.

Hello, I have always purchased coleus at the local nursery so I haven't raised but the traditional ones. Does anyone have some seeds for postage/to sell/ trade?
Thanks

Hey, I was just looking at the link earlier in this thread for Hazzard's seeds and they have them divided into two groups, shade coleus and sun/shade coleus, so you could check out the varieties in that second category for more sun tolerant varieties you can grow from seed.
