I propagated a lucky bamboo about 7 days ago and Im so very worried he may not root and both pieces i did is over 3 feet tall and I do not wanna lose them. Any one got any tips or tricks to up my chances of getting roots.
One of the stalks got yellow and soft on me so I redid the cut and it looks like it is doing well now. It's only been 2 days .. so we will see if iit starts to do it again. I did the wax trick to to ensure this guess it don't always work. Or idk what happened n that's what Im so worried about now. Is there something wrong with the entire plant. I guess only time will tell???

I think the cuttings are way too big. The plant has to live off stored energy until it roots. And then will have to form more roots to support that top before its a viable plant. Smaller segments usualy work better - a couple leaf nodes below water and a couple above water. Also, cut all the remaining leaves in half to limit loss of moisture. The cuttings from the center of the stem will branch at all the leaf nodes. Cuttings that include the stem tip will continue to grow upward without branching. Add a drop of Hydrogen Peroxide to the water - that helps oxygenate the water and aids in rooting. And when it does root, how are you getting it out of that narrow necked bottle?

I'm not sure what the 'wax method' is.

I agree with Daisy, those cuttings are much too long. And have some patience. I tried rooting some lucky bamboo cuttings once and mine took months! I lost about half of them, but finally ended up with three. Do keep the water changed, too.

I would like to know about this also! I have 3 small lucky bamboo! Would you take cuttings from soft wood or wait for the new stems to harden? I would try it with this one.. if that would work?

I've done cuttings of various Dracaenas that are that size, no problem. The existing leaves can remain on the plant for years, I wouldn't want to look at cut ones for that long. I also posted some other info where you asked about this in another post, Pamela.

Sy, your plant doesn't look big enough to cut, IME. There's hardly any length of stem to devote to being submerged in soil (or water) to form roots. It is 1 plant with 3 branches.

Yes I thought so tiffany.. thankyou! That is just one of three I have, the other two have only 2 branches, I think it would look silly with 1 branch so I wouldnt cut anything off them!

Are all three of the threads you started on the 'Lucky bamboo" all related to the same plant?
If so, it would be less confusing to keep all questions and member answers in one thread to avoid confusion, that way, there is a clear record of the steps you have taken all along the way.
