Someone told me this is a juniper bush but I recall my father (this was his and he has passed away) telling me this was something else... Any help is greatly appreciated.

Looks like a Juniper bush to me. Did your father call it by a cultivator name perhaps?

It's a juniper probably a 'Gold Lace', but there are many cultivars of juniper.

Sure looks like Juniperus of some sort to me too. Another for comparison:

Definitely juniper...may be difficult to ID the exact cultivar. Could be Pfizer Gold, for example, if what I see in the photo is like the real plant.
