Have questions about someone's seeds they posted? Want to show pictures of seeds you're offering (that won't fit in the listing for it)? Have other seedy topics you want to discuss? Here's the place!...

@de what zone are you in? I don't think I've ever been in a swap where someone asked for houseplant seeds so I never listed any. I have seeds for things I consider houseplants here but you may think of them as outside plants if you live in a high enough zone.

@Lalambchop1 could you please list some examples of deer-resistant perennials? Living in the city, deer aren't a problem so I don't know what they like to eat except hosta.

Elena, I adore you. You always make me smile. Smiling I bet we'll have enough in here that will be deer resistant. I know I'm offering a few things in that category so she'll be good to go. Smiling

Elena I'm so happy you are planting the Raspberry zinnias. I listed those last night. If you look at my pic for the salmon rose zins, they are next to it in the bottom left corner. You will love them.

In drought conditions or when curious, deer will eat nearly any plant. Here's a link to a site I often refer to in deciding what can be planted in our front yard, where deer browse nightly and sometimes even in broad daylight: https://njaes.rutgers.edu/deer...

Karen I was looking at wish lists and presume you know Double Coneflowers are not grown from seed
They are mostly , for us , grown from manipulated cuttings , and the seeds are usually sterile
It is like 1 in 10,000 of gettng a double from seeds , possible it is , but , if , and , maybe , that sort of thing ,

That being said , I can offer a pod of seeds from a Double Scoop Mandarin , but as before , I have no idea if they will grow , I do not know if the Red Raspberry is any good from seeds either ,
Cold 57 degrees and raining here , but Iam kind of delighted , My little Kananakee Mallow sprout has leaves today Smiling Hurray! , I love the idea of rare wildflowers and when their a host forButterflies , all the Better Green Grin!

Karen, I'm thrilled that you are offering them! I hadn't seen them before this week but once I did I knew they'd be perfect!

Patricia, thank you so much for the link! Now I can add some plants from the A & B lists for her!

Thank you Jim. I did realize that these are not going to come true or maybe not at all, but I really just wanted to see what they are going to come out like. There are certain things I've gotten that I know will not be true to the mother but sometimes it's kind of fun to see what happens. The peach zins I had this year were amazing. I had one that was a bit odd and looked more like a cream colored carnation with peach edging. It was purty. So that's where I came up with the idea to see what things will turn out like, lol.

I had a late germinating/growing coneflower this year. I really did not expect that the cone would germinate but around late july it popped up out of nowhere. I know what I planted and each one was different in shape and color. Right now the leaves are big, but it's way too late for them to even try and bloom. It's a chance of being one of three cones so I kind of like waiting on the surprise. I was tickled pink when I saw it growing and not dying, lol.

Karen Things I try and do germination ,and being sure of what will happen is like that , surprising and interesting , Things like pink leaved or white leaved citrus trees you rarely hear of , 1970 the last time I even saw one .
I have seen them so I know they exist , but I would have a difficult time convincing myself if i had not seen one
Echinacea before the 1990's double ? no such critter , But , I had rarely seen one before ,
I try the seeds myself ,,
and as you said I agree gardening fun to try once in a while . ,

You guys look like a lot of fun. I've updated my list with specific plants. How many packs of seeds do folks usually offer?

In total, the number of seed packs offered varies. Some people have 20 to offer, some have 80....or even 100+. The minimum amount you can offer is 3 packets of seeds.

As far as number of packets per type, most people offer, as Jim said, 1-3 packets of a given type of seed.

It all comes down to how much you have and how much you want to give away. Smiling

Is anyone interested in Grevillea xgaudichaudii seeds? I have a plant, it bloomed (beautiful), and I have tried to save seeds. However I am not even sure that what I have identified as seeds really are seeds, and they are truly hard to separate from the chaff. I may just try sprouting them "as is", but if anyone wants some I could have another go at it. I tried to find photos of the seeds on the internet without success. It's a specialty plant, only hardy to Zone 8, so most folks can't have it.

Hi Pistil,

You have some interesting seeds, it seems Smiling Thanks for the offer, but I"m in Zone 7, so would not be interested. Also, I dont have the room for shrubs, if it DID grow (I should BE so lucky!) But you know we "seedies" are always on the lookout for something different and interesting!

Well this particular Grevillea grows out but not up, and is therefore a groundcover, so really quite unusual, and the leaves look like Oak leaves. An Oak growing flat on the ground with hot red 6" flowers.
My other Grevillea has needles and a shape like a spruce tree, then with shocking magenta flowers!
I've gotta go to Australia sometime.

So you can have just 1 pack of seeds per daylily cross and it's okay?
