We came from here

The thread "Our Orchid blooms in September 2016" in Orchids forum

Another month went by, filled with lots of beautiful and interesting blooms and good discussions and here we are looking at October!
Rlc Magic of Mishima 'Volcano Queen' blooms this Fall for the first time for me. It did well outside over the Summer and I see 3 spikes in the works. The first one opened just in time to start the month! The fragrance is beautiful!
The color looks almost perfect on my IPad here, perhaps it needs to be shade darker. This is one of those dark hot pinks which are tough to capture with most cameras. The IPad camera does a bit better in this department, at least when viewed on Apple monitors.

Beautiful start of October orchid blooms, Ursula, Ted and Lindsey. I agree with Lindsey on that "Volcano Queen" Ursula, I'm imagining the "fragrance" of that one. Ted that Dendrobium "Fire Wing" is a beauty! Lindsey I love the size and color combo of your "Limelight" - I would have called it Lime Delight Lovey dubby

I only have my no ID dens blooming beautifully attached to my plumerias and oak tree. There are more buds ready to open soon. It's hard to see in this picture but my small Sharry Barry has a lot of spikes too.

By the way, has anyone heard from Ken @drdawg lately? I have been lurking in the September thread but I have not read any posts from him lately. I have not seen him chime in in the other forums that I watched too. He is more of an orchid guy so I thought it is best to inquire here.

I was just thinking today that Ken had been conspicuously absent lately, Gigi. Maybe it's just he's been busy with the football season starting up? I think he travels to a lot of games. Let's hope that's the explanation.

Your Den looks so very pretty decorating your nice plumeria there, and I do see lots of buds lurking in the background of your picture, too. When I get a bit more confident with my Dendrobiums I'm certainly going to install one on my biggest plumeria out back.

I hope so too Elaine and Thank You! these dens love being attached to my plumerias and oak tree. I've been adding a little bit more variety to add more color by cutting some of the babies and mixing them with the older white ones. I notice they grow faster than when I had them in the beautiful orchid ceramic pots. Most of the canes that grew early spring are almost 2 feet tall plus the spikes. So I know they are very happy.

Thanks for the new thread, Ursula. Love the 'Volcano Queen'

Great show, Ted. I'm especially fond of the Encyclia radiata.

Lindsey, I have the Brassocattleya [Bc.] Memoria Vida Lee 'Limelight' and it does well for me.

I have been in New England for ten days, and the start of the vacation was the MSU vs UMass game last Saturday. I am now lost on the NGA site. I can't find anything. Y'all could have waited for my return. Whistling

That's right, Gigi you will need to use a computer with mouse feature to do the customizing your Home Page. But then the changes do transfer to your touch screen and mobile devices.

I was pretty befuddled at first but once I messed around with the Customizing options it was easy to get my home page back to looking almost like it did before.

Oh no, perhaps you could borrow a friend's computer and sign in there and do the customizing. It should save to your other devices.

Gigi, what do you mean when you say you have cut some of the babies and are not going to use the ceramic pots? Are you leaving them in your trees without media? Just curious, I have a den which is making keiki's like crazy but no buds and I wonder if I should remove it from the pot.

Alice, I attach them on the trees and wrap it with stockings the I would put orchid bark in the stocking and all around the babies to keep them moist because our sun is brutal here in Florida.

Thanks Elaine, I think I will just have to live with it. I don't like opening my info in public computers. I'm sure that in time, @Dave will make the editing available for iPhone users.
