It is with great sadness that we let you all know that Sharon Brown passed away today.

Dave and I have known Sharon for many years. She was a friend to many, and I know that she will be missed by many many people.

It's never easy to say goodbye to our friends that we've made here, especially those who have been such an intricate part of our lives for years and years. It always leaves a void in our garden that will not be replaced.

That's so sad! She was such a friendly and entertaining woman. We used to spend hours on the telephone, and I would hurt from laughing at all of her funny observations and stories. She'll be missed.

Indeed such a sad occasion. Sharon was a very kind, generous lady that will be missed dearly.

I'm certain she is happily visiting with her Aunt Bett and Ninna.

Did she ever get her book published?

I was stunned to log in and see the post on the Porch Swing.

Our paths have crossed many times over the years on all the different sites. I really did think of her as a friend. When she decided to have less of a presence online here she sent me a message on FB. She was sure our paths would cross again, but if I needed her she was there for me. I will truly muss her. I am indescribably sad. She was a person so full of life, it's hard to imagine she is gone. Thank goodness she left us her trove of wonderful stories, and beautiful artwork. She had promised to make me a Plumeria painting... Crying

I am devastated. Wilma saw the posts on Facebook and told me.

Sharon and I had a special bond that started on Dave's Garden and was cemented during her visit to our home some years ago. I have to chuckle, even in my sadness, when I recall how we met. She and I had both been writing regularly on DG. I got a D-mail from her (she had obviously been reading my articles, the commentary of others about them, and my responses. I could tell that she was really curious about me. Soon she started peppering me with questions about my life.

Then she realized that I might think she was coming on to me. She sent me a short D-mail: "I'm only interested in your brain," she declared. I laughed so much my sides hurt.

Her visit with us was special. She wanted to know everything about everything. One time she was a bit perplexed, so I asked her if there was a problem. She said she couldn't visualize how the Amanas fit into the state of Iowa. We all know how visually oriented she was, so I brought her a map of Iowa. She was overjoyed to see it and much relieved when she could finally fit us into the proper area of the state.

My most cherished memory of her visit was a walk in the woods, just the two of us. I shared stories of my childhood in the forests above the river valley, just as she had shared hers on DG. She was delighted to see wild strawberries in bloom, as well as May Apples, raspberries and gooseberries. At one point, knowing the problems with her legs, I held my breath as she jumped over a small inlet from the lake nearby. I could just see me fishing her out of the muck. I needn't have worried. She cleared it with no problem. I was amazed. When Sharon put her mind to something, it got done!

Oh! I am soooo sad to hear this news. I have been thinking of her lately and wondered why I hadn't seen her posting anywhere in quite some time. I know she was cutting back on posting, but I still expected to see her posting something beautiful somewhere every once in a while.

I, too, wondered about her book. I loved each and every childhood story she told. She was a wonderful storyteller. She was so talented and gifted in so many ways. She truly touched everyone who crossed paths with her.

Heaven must be rejoicing to be receiving such a lovely soul. I am sure she is gracing heavenly gardens as I write this. She will be dearly missed by so many.

Rest in peace dearest Sharon! Angel Angel Angel Angel Angel

I have been wondering as I had not seen her on the site for a while. She was such an upbeat and lovely lady. And especially helpful to those of us who asked her assistance. I loved reading her blogs and hope that they will stay on the site.

I know we will all miss her. I do hope her stories get published. She was a real treasure trove of the history, tales and beauty of those hills and the people she grew up with.

Vic thanks for sharing your memory of her too, it is precious as are all of those shared here by those who really knew her.

May she be lovingly welcomed into the arms of her Lord as well as her family.

Sighing!

Cross posted but guess we all felt much the same.
