After 4 years my epiphyllum oxypetalum has a few flower buds on it. I'm so worried something is going to happen to the bud so I'm keeping a watchful eye on it. I wonder how long it takes for the buds to flower?

Depends to my experience strongly on temperature: from one to a few days, not longer, so only a little patience is required Smiling

And don't worry, when they have grown this big they always flowered (no guarantee).

It's going to be 91 tomorrow and then in the mid 80s this weekend into next week. A couple of nights it's going to be in the mid to low 50s.

I tend to worry a lot. Hilarious!

That's a good sign, as long as they're healthy and thriving. I neglected mine in early Summer, it got sunburned and I finally decided to move it to a shadier location. Thumbs up

That's the perfect spot for them. Thumbs up Once they grow larger, they'll be able to tolerate a little more sun.

And they can tolerate cooler temps too, even in the fourties & fifties. Pretty bloom Cameron. Mine gave me one and is developing a second bloom. They are delightfully fragrant. Did you stay up and enjoy it? Green Grin!

Hi Kristi, I'm just now seeing this, I apologize. Thanks for complimenting the bloom. I tried to stay up but it took to long to open, but I got up at 3a.m. to take the picture. Rolling on the floor laughing I have one more bud on it that I may stay up to watch again? Hilarious! That's great that yours is developing a second bloom. Hurray!
