Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Charming Heart')

Charming Heart has not done well at all in my garden. It blooms ok, but the plant has dwindled each year, I don't expect it to linger much longer, it is down to 2 small fans. It has never been as tall as the statistics show, only about 28" at most.

Charming Heart has done acceptably in 7A, but not particularly well. I planted it April 1 of this year, and it brought me a few blooms as of June 30, but just that...a few blooms. Like alilyfan, it didn't reach its height and grew to about 28". But it's a first year DL for me, so I'm waiting until next year to proclaim it as not a successful DL. It's a dormant, so I'll be interested to see how it does after this winter.

Mine blooms reliably, if not profusely, in a less than ideal spot - shade most of the afternoon. It's not the most robust of daylilies for me, but it has beautiful blooms each year. Probably if I moved it out where it gets more sun, it would perform better.

Charming Heart is planted behind my garage and it is in a spot that I neglect the most, sadly. It does fairly well with all my neglect and blooms well despite the fact that I never water it (my hose won't reach that far) and I hardly ever weed it. I am sure if I moved this plant to a better location that it would surge and do so much better.

Charming Heart does so well here. I have a 4 year old one, very showy blooms. Many poly blooms on it too. One of my oldie favorites.

My 'Charming Heart' was a first year planted as a 4" seedling on April 1. It bloomed June 30, but only had about 3 blooms fairly low in the foilage before it gave up for the year. I can't blame it, as I planted it too crowded in a border. I have high hopes for it next year!
