This is a real showpiece during bloom time. It's large fuzzy leaves are very aromatic in the unpleasant range when disturbed. It's cut to the woody stubs every other year to refresh it's good looks and maintain its size to about 3 feet across and tops out at about 2 feet tall. The flower stalks are another two feet tall and the flowers are in whirls at intervals up the stalk (interrupta). Salvia Lovers Guide to Salvias , by John Whittlsey, has a nice photo of the plant here in Hamilton Square Garden. Overall a very low maintanence, drought tolerant plant.
