this looks a lot like the hummingbird moths I see but could be a bee.. dont think a wasp..sort of hairy
Don't squat with yer spurs on!

People try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved

Looks like a bee to me, too Rosie. Hummingbird moths are way WAY bigger, like the size of your baby finger.

Elaine, In NC we have tiny tiny ones ..zipping and hovering while working they are all around. At least that is what everybody calls them..no stinging.

Here's the link I looked at, Rosie. The pictures on this link are really nice, and show a lot different body colors and a sort of fan-shaped tail on the hummingbird moths.

The ones I've seen here are, as I said, the size of the first two joints of my baby finger - really large. They're easily mistaken for a hummingbird, the bird that is, because their wings make a humming sound just like the birds do.

That's a bee. Its the wrong time of year for Hummingbird Moths.

BTW our Hummingbird Moths are actually the size of Hummingbirds. I thought they really were birds until I got a good look at one.
