I recently had to take down a beloved tree in my front yard because it was breaking up my foundation. I'm thinking of replacing it with a small tree. (The yard is quite small.)
I have a beautiful Japanese red maple on the other side of the walkway. I'm thinking of something that would be about that size - say growing to around 12 feet.
I have a wonderful serviceberry in my back yard, but I'm thinking that might be a bit messy for the front.
I was thinking about crepe myrtle or a tree-form hybrid rose of sharon. Would love to hear suggestions. Something hardy and drought-tolerant.
Redbud, dogwood, fringe tree (Chionanthus virginicus), Japanese Lilac Tree (Syringa reticulata), and Dwarf Chinkapin Oak (Quercus prinoides) are some options.
