Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Vanilla Fluff')

It does very well here and is always pretty.

The Vanilla Fluff I have looks more like Scatterbrain, it is peachy pink in color, it bloomed just
beautiful this summer, was one of my longest blooming daylilies,

My Vanilla Fluff has always been a peach color. After I had it for many years, I was told by a member here that I probably have Scatterbrain and not Vanilla Fluff. Wish I could add a comment but because I am not entirely sure what I have, I will decline. Here is what mine looks like.

SCATTERBRAIN OR VANILLA FLUFF????

Color can vary, but is never as pinkish as Cindy's picture here. Inconsistent here, as are some of the Joiner doubles. I eliminated Scatterbrain because bloom was too sparse in this climate. Unfortunately, Vanilla Fluff is growing in a rather shaded area, so I cannot give a fair evaluation. The picture here was taken in low light, so it is whiter than reality, but the form is accurate.

Well, looking at the stats on the two: 'Scatterbrain and Vanilla Fluff' they are almost twins anyhow. I don't own 'Vanilla Fluff' but I do have two different clumps of 'Scatterbrain' one being a division from the original clump. The original clump is almost always a cream color, the division is normally a beautiful coral peach color. They are located in the same bed, but at different ends of the bed. So I would assume 'Vanilla Fluff' could also have a different appearance at times.

Vanilla Fluff was a disappointment for me, since the doubling of petals was always minimal.

Maybe she will have to find a new home.
Condilla and Roswitha are my two favourite doubles.

My Vanilla Fluff was always cream colored. I have had it for years but this year it did not bloom. I am so sad! I am waiting for next year.

IMHO, I think those with the peachy colored blooms might have SCATTERBRAIN, although the different light can make the blooms appear more yellow. I got VANILLA FLUFF some 20 years ago from Mr. Joiner, and used to grow SCATTERBRAIN as well . VANILLA FLUFF is always more light yellow in color and is one of the few fragrant blooms that I can actually smell ( with my allergies.) It wouldn't have stayed here over 20 years if it wasn't a good performer.

I don't remember when I started growing Vanilla Fluff but it has been several seasons. It is always double for me and blooms late, into August. It meets stats for height and size. However, bud count is low. It increases at a moderate rate. The color can be as yellow as this picture but is more often an ivory color. I keep it because it is a late bloomer and a nice double, always consistent.
