The Wild Carrot is the "mother" of the cultivated carrot that we know today. The edible wild carrot or Queen Ann's Lace has "hairy" stems...the deadly Poison Hemlock DOES NOT have "hairy" stems. (remember the queen has hairy legs and that will help you to remember that the Queen Ann's Lace is the safe one ) The flower heads are different too, the Poison Hemlock is much more open whereas the wild carrot flower head is "tight".
