Hello, am somewhat new here, I was browsing around some of the forums here and came across some photos of some of the different coral bells you have been growing. I was utterly fascinated by the beautiful colorful leaves and different varieties. Just wanted to ask, can coral bells be grown from seed? I have never seen them on any of the local seed racks here in my area. So was wondering where would one find some seeds? I tip my hat to you. Thank You!

Just beware of seeds on places like Amazon and e-bay that sell the seeds of tissue culture plants that will not come true to form. You might get some interesting ones but most likely will not get any of the bright colors. If you have any question about which ones are tissue culture and which come true from seed , just ask. And welcome to the forum.

Thank You! NJBob, I have briefly checked out that seed site you included in your response. I especially like their prices. I might be able to order some in a couple months. Now I'm going to show off my stupidity *Blush* What is a tissue culture seed and how will I be able to avoid them? Thanks for any info you might be willing to share. I tip my hat to you.

Tissue culture plants are made from using a part of the plant to duplicate it. Where as seeds from a seed variety plant if pollinated by the same variety will give you that same plant. Where a plant such as Georgia Peach which is produced by tissue culture even if pollinated by the same variety will produce all different seedlings. Nothing wrong with this as you end up some interesting plants

Thank You! NJBob. I knew about cloning but not the seed pollinating difference.

There are 7 varieties of heuchera seeds being offered so far in Poisondartfrog's Jan. seed swap. Come join! Smiling

Does anyone here have experience growing heucheras from seed? Advice?

Leslie, they are easy, just spread them on some well draining seed soil. Don't cover the seeds. I had mine in the greenhouse at about 65 degrees, with a dome over the flat.
