Any ideas on what this is please...?.Never seen it flower....dies down every year.

Many thanks Silversurfer...!!...brilliant....!!....that must be the plant.....by the way those two leaves come from the same plant....the fresh green one was a young protected leaf not yet hit by recent frosts....the other large leaf was old and semi shrivelled ...it flattened out when I laid it down for the photo..it does look so different though....Thank you again ...that was a great help.

Glad you like it....the plant is growing on a raised amenity bed that I help look after. Soil is free draining ...and I'd say slightly acidic...think it's had some peat added.
It's in Scotland UK....Langholm to be precise...:-)
