Something that won't outgrow a 2 gallon pot and can stay on a large windowsill. But also one that isn't plain green, preferably some color and one that will produce flowers at a small size. Some aloe get huge and being it's cold in winter it needs to stay inside near the window.

I like Aloe "Christmas Carol". It stays small enough and has bright red edges. It forms low clumps and blooms very young.

That is a nice plant. There are other bumpy hybrids which would fit the bill. "Vito" is another one. They don't get big. The strong colors are going to be muted or absent indoors, depending on the light. The more light you can provide, the better the colors will be.

Here are two seedling hybrids (siblings) with nice red highlights. They make bicolor flowers (red opening to yellow) on and off all year.

Hi keith, I have this one, its very small only a few inches tall at the minuit, max height I think is around 1' or so and its got some lovely streaks of colour on the leaves.

I think so too karen. It does seem more delicate compared to the other aloe I have, the small leaves are very fragile and will snap quite easily if your not careful.

Ever think about an Aloe vera plant? Beautiful color, relatively compact (if you de-pup them regularly) and they send up lovely delicate stalks of beautiful pink-coral bell shaped flowers...btw if you plant them outside the humming birds love them!

Agave 'Bllue Glow' is another nice one. Gets a max of 1.5 - 2.5 feet tall and maxes at 2.0 -3.0 wide. Usually solitary with no pups. Beautiful dark blue-green with yellow edging and red tips. When back lit by the sun it look like it has a 'glow' about it. Loves the sun and heat and is drought tolerant (in case you forget to water. )

I have another small Aloe in my yard. Very tiny, tiny guy. Not sure what it is called but it would be perfect! A few inche wide and a few inches tall. Grows slow and probably would max our at 2.0 feet wide and tall. Nice dark green and 'bumpy' texture.

I'll post some photos in a bit of these plants.

Here's a pic of the Agave 'Blue Glow' Note the last pic. You'll get an idea of size better. The A. 'Blue Glow' is in the ground. It is about 1' tall and 8" wide. Compare it to size of the A. De-meteesia in the large red pot. (A. De-meteesia is huge)







Here's the tiny, tiny little plant I told you about. Not sure what it is called. It is 2 years old. Got in a BB store on the table where they keep all the tiny plants. Don't overlook the Aloe/Agave table either. It could be there with the larger ones.







Here's a bunch of Aloe vera. Just your generic ones. Mine are about 1-2' tall and as for wide...well they're about 1-2'. I have them planted together in a large group and let them go wild with the pups adding to the 'bush' of Aloes.

But you can keep just one individual plant as long as you keep removing the pups. Also if you have room on the floor in front of a bright sunny window you can put it in a larger pot. Eventually it will send up that lovely stalk of flowers that get about 4' tall and often multiple stocks of flowers on one plant.. Very pretty outside as well as they attract Humming Birds.









You can see all the pups you can remove from the plant if you want to. You can plant these in their own pots
