Hi & welcome! Depending on the climate/zone, various options exist. Are you just curious about the pic or trying to duplicate similar effects where you are? If the latter, where are you?

1. Has the look of a fake hedge.. it is just too green.

Please add a good close up to show the leaves.

Are you prepared to wait several years to grow to the height you want...or do you want instant effect?

Are you prepared to trim a real hedge regularly to keep it in a neat shape?

2. Whilst Buxus..... common name box, balls, take time to grow and large ones are expensive to buy.
As well as skill and patience to keep in shape.

Your 2nd pic looks to be the real thing.....but you can get artificial instant effect ones in this as well.

TheArquitect,
Are these your own original photos? If so, where were they taken...location, building, time of year, etc.
If not, will you please give credit to the original photographers. Thank You!
This will help us to better identify your plants. I tip my hat to you.

I agree with Plantladylin, Boxtrees, Buxus sempervirens or other Buxus evergreens are often used for hedges and for topiaries.

Do you know what the buildings are in the pictures, it might be possible to get a closer look via Google? I agree with Silversurfer that the top one doesn't necessarily look like a hedge or maybe even real. There's something along the top of it that looks like the edge of a frame or something.

1. Another possibility is that it is a green wall.
A wire frame planted with dwarf plants.

To get a green hedge of that height/thickness using Ligustrum sp will take years.

Yes, the bare panels in some of those pictures could be what appears to be at the top of the greenery in that first ID picture. I was thinking it might be with a climber but the "green wall" would probably make more sense, especially since there are large rectangle shapes in the green. High maintenance though, I assume it is a hotel??

Which comes back to my question...where did the original poster find these two photographs?
Can @TheArquitect please provide link(s) so we can narrow down the source of the images and that in turn will help with the identification process.
