I got my first ever Daylily Journal in the mail today! Guess who's on the cover? I don't have time right now to read it, but I saw enough to get me drooling already!

Hi Pam! I'm glad they won't be sending one of these every month, cause I have the tiniest house! Trying to get rid of a lot of magazines and books (love my kindle!), to make room for a serious crafting craze. And now, along comes daylilies!

Well, Ive got a pretty large fabric stash for quilting Whistling . Something about pretty colors I guess. So I get both crazes. Now, if I could just quit looking at the fabric........
Looks like everyone is off doing December stuff. Looks like things are still blooming down under tho.

Pam, I have the same problem with quilting fabric, but have been so busy with daylilies that I haven't sewn anything
for two years! I still buy more fabric though! I think we picked the wrong two hobbies! Add in the Journals and the quilting
books and there is no hope for my house!

Pam, Deryll, I look at the fabric in the stores and wish I had a bigger house! So beautiful, and so many ways to be creative. I make greeting cards, and have tons of paper in all colors and designs. And now I dream about daylilies! Isn't life exciting!?

Mike, thank you, I never had children, and now I get to feel a little bit special. Like I'm a mom. I really do love those little plants. I'm already dreaming about arranged marriages, and one night stands! Marriages will be where I'll load up every bloom with pollen coming strictly from the one perfect plant. One night stands will be each bloom receiving pollen from a different donor. I'm searching for the perfect lovers for Rose F Kennedy. I can't wait!

Fred, I was on your website yesterday trying to buy Lillians Vapor Trail. I couldn't get past the security thingy to send you a message. Do you have any available for spring? I think she would make exquisite babies with Rose!

Thank you, Mike.

Most of the seed I sold this year were seed I was going to plant myself, so there were a lot of seed from my own seedlings. Due to health issues with Kathleen and I, we made the decision not to plant any seedling this year. There comes a time in life when we all realize that age is catching up with us and we have to make choices we don't really care for, but necessary. Will put the rest of the seed on the auction after the holidays.

I came in here to say how giddy I was to be receiving Lillian's Vapor Trail next year. Did you see her in that Daylily Journal? That award she won? When I read what it takes to qualify for that award, I felt like I was the one being handed an honor, and I will take very good care of her.

When I first started getting caught up in this game, I thought, "Mary, what makes you think you can plant all these flowers, dig them back up, then prepare and ship them. That's too much work for an old lady!" But, I'm too stubborn to let anything make me lose out on this grand adventure! So, I figured I'd just do a little, just all the fun parts! And then share the rest of my seeds with the world! They would not go to waste.
I are sooooo smart!

My computer and I are not the best of friends, so I haven't posted any photos yet. Like Fred, I am finding it harder to keep
up with all of the work involved, but like you Mary, I am also stubborn enough not to know when to quit. I have a goal of
producing some great seedlings, and will see a good many bloom this year. My biggest problem is that I never know if they
are good enough, compared to all of the southern growers. And even if I really like them, I am always reluctant to boast
about them just in case they won't be as nice anywhere else. I have shared plants with other people, but would feel bad
if I actually sold them and they don't perform well. Perhaps I will be able to post some pix this year.

Thanks for the kudos Mary, I was a little shocked that it came in #6 for highest number of votes this year, there are a lot of good daylilies nominated each year and I am just glad I had two win this year. The other was not in the top twenty (LILLIAN'S JACK TEMPLE).
