anyone know what could this be? I thought it is rose but there is no thorns and the seed does not look like rose hips to me.

It looks like a camellia to me but maybe there's something similar I don't know about Smiling

Thumbs up I also noticed the ants. Ants love Camellias (or maybe they are just looking for aphids).

Thank you very much Greene, Sue . i did not know there is so many type of camellia. i thought camellias look only like the double or the peony type. no idea there is a single type. but this is definitely a Camellia sasanqua. bunch of variety but probably apple blossom.
