Background history:

'Tower Power' is a semi-evergreen tetraploid introduced in 2009 by Judy Davisson. Judy is also known as "Davi" here on ATP! Check out her website for more of her beautiful daylily creations: http://www.picturetrail.com/da...

Juli started a thread about Judy Davisson: The thread "ATP Series: The Daylilies of Judy Davisson" in Daylilies forum

Tower Power is a mid-season bloomer with possible re-bloom. It is listed as an easy pollen parent, but difficult as a pod parent. It currently has 1 registered child: https://garden.org/plants/pare...

This plant can be found in the NGA Plant Database at:
Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Tower Power') .

Please join in, if you own this plant! We would love to know more! I award an acorn for performance information posted to this thread.

Also, please consider adding a "Local Report" to the NGA Plant Database! Thank you!

This does not seem to be one of the more famous or popular Davisson intros but it is certainly a winner in my garden! Huge blooms, stellar plant habits and wonderful fragrance are all key features with this one. Its color is perfect for making darker purples and reds shine in the garden, but it is also extremely showy in its own right. It is a reluctant pod setter for me but has always managed to set a few each season. Pollen is extremely powerful and will set pods like crazy on other plants. I love this one!

I just planted “Tower Power” this spring so can’t truly evaluate it yet. However, I did note that even as a first-year plant it displayed very good tolerance to drought and heat. It is in a spot that dries out fairly quickly and receives more sun than it probably wants, and yet it never looked very stressed or wilted.

According to my records I tried setting three pods on it but they all aborted.

In my landscape the backdrop for this plant is a very large, green-leaved and red-flowering Weigela shrub, which I think is a perfect match for the bloom height and color. It is also close to the driveway where I am hopeful its fragrance will be noticeable to me and visitors.
