Tip: The path of the full moon is the path of the sun six months later. Go outside on the full moon in December, and study how the shadows of nearby trees and buildings move across your balcony, deck, or garden. The sun will cast the same shadows in June, six months later.

This gives you a way to garden in the middle of winter…or at least, plan and scheme about gardening.

hi great thought at the moment but its too cold to stand outside hard frost
like sitting with a garden catalogue and dream of next year new seeds/plants and bulbs
the garden is totally bare not one flower and a recent storm has finished off my winter bedding but not too worry the sun will come back and yes planning is in the pipe line for new parts of thee garden
love your idea sitting in june with a glass of wine in the garden but please come back mr sun

Yep, it is also way too cold and impractical to do this where I live. But how I wish it wasn't!

Walking in the winter doesn't sound fun to me either. But I think the article only mentioned December as an example. But perhaps to plant your new Spring gardens in say, April, you would might want to watch the Full Moon in September or October. Or a new Fall garden in September, watch the Full Moon in March to understand the path of the sun during that time of the year.

That's very interesting, Cheryl! I missed December's full moon (which brought us brutally cold temps anyway, so I probably wouldn't have gone out to study the shadows), but I'll try to remember that in January; I have lots of winter clothes, so unless it's below zero and really windy going outside in the cold isn't that big of deal here

I will try this. I missed Dec but will see if it works in Jan.
It is cold but I am a long time snow bird so I have good warm winter gear. I have what I call ugly cold cloths not one piece of skin is showing I am warm and toasty outside.
