Looks like moss or mold? Should I just prune this thing down?

Hi Greg, look closely to see if it's mealy bugs. I can't quite tell, but have had plants get covered with them. If they are mealies, a strong blast with the hose will get rid of them.

It resolved itself. New growth was coming up so I just pruned the dead ones. The white stuff had disappeared by then anyway.

Good, I'm glad it's doing well now. Just keep an eye out for mealies. They are a huge pain, but easy to get rid of if you spot them early.
