"75 days. Brassica oleracea. Open Pollinated. Plant produces good yields of lime green cauliflower/broccoli. This is a unique Italian variety with better taste and texture than other cauliflower/broccoli. It is excellent raw or cooked, it boasts a milder, sweeter flavor than white cauliflower. It has beautiful apple green sporaling buds and is especially well adapted to the north. Excellent choice for home gardens. A heirloom variety from Italy. I would suggest, your first few years planting a garden, that you try some really-easy varieties.
For early crops, I would suggest snap peas, snow peas, peas, radishes, lettuce or Bok Choy. I think those are easier to grow than broccoli or cauliflower. They don't need to "head up".
For summer, bush beans (and pole beans if you have stakes and string, or a net, or any kind of trellis or poles). Maybe summer squash like zucchini if you have an area where they can sprawl. Maybe tomatoes if you have a summer without cold nights, and are willing to start a few seeds indoors.
But the smartest thing is to do what you suggested: grow something that you know you like to EAT.
