I have had this daylily in my garden for several years. It has grown to a nice size clump, even in a part of the garden that is hit-or-miss with the sprinklers. It does match its stats at 25 inches tall (maybe a tad taller) and a 5.5 inch bloom. It has a nice bud count and does rebloom in my 8a garden.
The pattern of the bloom is more apparent at the beginning of the season, but does fade when it begins to warm up. It is both pod and pollen fertile. Makes a very showy clump, and one of my favorites in the garden.
"A plant that one takes for granted, as it is so reliable." mantisOH---you got it sooo right! And, it reliably produces seeds--as evidenced by 5.5 pages of registrations on the AHS database. This is one of my very favorite daylilies. It has been in my garden for at least 8 years--maybe more. The flowers are very consistent in color and pattern. Form is the only variable--and not by much. When looking it up on the AHS database, I discovered that it is in the parentage of Delta Blues. Now I know why, unlike any other of the half dozen "blue" cultivars I have tried, it actually survives and thrives the Winter here in northern North Carolina. Mystical Rainbow gave it vigor.
I have only had this plant about 5 years but I love it. Everything said about it so far is true. Mine is planted where it gets shade half a day so I cannot imagine how much better it would do if planted in full sun. One negative for me is the short scapes. I prefer them to be minimum of 28".
One of my favorites. I've had it several years, I only wish it multiplied faster. It had a hard time its first year but has done well since, multiplying modestly, but blooming nicely. I think mine is about 28" or more though, but mine is in full sun & where it can get regular water. Often reblooms, love rebloomers!
A big time favorite in my garden it has been here for many years. Mine multiplies nicely is a rugged daylily that does very well here in the north. Then the bloom still always catches my attention with it's beauty. Love it!

I've had this DL almost since I started this "addiction" about 10 years ago. It doesn't get sun until noon. I'm sure it would increase more in full sun, but that's okay...don't have to divide as much. Always very healthy looking and blooms very well for me. Here are some seedling pictures from crossing Strawberry Candy X Mystical Rainbow: Would have liked to see the green throat come through...but it didn't in this cross.
Echoing what others have said about Mystical Rainbow, it is one that I took for granted for several years. I've taken more notice of it recently and am very glad to have this one.
I got it in 2009 and it has multiplied well over the years. I've not seen rust on it although the database says that it is susceptible. The scapes are sturdy with usually two-way branching and about 10-12 buds. It begins blooming mid-June and blooms for about 3 weeks in my zone 6b garden.
