“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

Thank you all very much!

I didn't have the day that was planned, but I got the best possible birthday present... Mom is OK. We'd planned to come up Saturday, but it turned out to be just me visiting, and Mom in the hospital. I stayed with her from Sunday afternoon until we got home around noon today, while Dad came & went so he could take care of the dog and get some rest.

I'll stay another night or two before heading home. For one thing, I need a real night's sleep... hospitals! Rolling my eyes.

I had a great belated birthday dinner tonight, with BOTH tuna AND salmon that I found at Aldi's. Dad grilled the fish and Mom smashed the potatoes. I was as happy as Josie, who couldn't stop wagging her tail -- indeed, she was wagging her entire self, nose to tail! Lovey dubby

I'm looking forward to some nice gardening weather, although I think there's some rain in the forecast that could cramp my style. That's OK, I have plenty of rainy-day things to do, including starting seeds!

Thanks! Since the actual day was spent in the hospital with Mom, I've continued celebrating all month anyway. "Since it's my birthday..." is a great excuse for all sorts of things!

For example... I'd sorta wanted a chocolate-orange birthday cake... so this afternoon, I made chocolate-orange cupcakes, topped with vanilla-orange buttercream, striped with purple, gold, and green sugar. Happy Fat Tuesday! Joyanna carried them up and down the court to share with our friends. She & I took a set next door (along with some Hellebore blooms) also, and we met our new neighbors, a nice young couple with a 1 year old son (big grin, blue eyes) and a sweet yellow lab... Joyanna lost no time in making friends with the dog!

OH oh, I missed your birthday. It is never too late to wish you a happy birthday! Wish you a Happy Birthday. Hope you have enjoyed it. Jill I just received my order from Amazon for Holy Basil seeds and it arrived from Thailand. I would like to send you a package. Forgot your address. Could you please tree mail it to me? I am not very successful doing seeds, what was the seeds I got from you? At the seed swap? With all those fuzzy stuff? I did not put a label and I do not remember. I am going to move the seed planter so it gets more warmth.

Thanks, Francine!

I've had good luck doing basil with Tom DeBaggio's clump transplanting method... I think there are links in the first paragraph to articles on heat mats (and inexpensive alternatives) and light shelves (which also don't have to be $$) and preventing damping-off. That whole "Seed Starting 101" series that I did for DG sets out my seed starting methods pretty clearly -- it's not the only way to do things, but it's a way that many people have success with!

I'm not sure what seed you got from me, sorry. I know there were some packets being split, but I just don't remember which ones. fuzzy stuff... Hey, maybe you're talking about the Torenia seeds (blue mix) that still had pods & chaff in the bag? If so, get them started; they take a while.
