I got this guy from SMG last Fall. I potted him up and left him in my coldframe to be planted come Spring. SMG describes it as "bright green rosettes with dark purple tips" which seems pretty consistent with our two DB pictures.

But sempervivum-liste.de shows it and describes it as something completely different.

SMG's listing for 'Iole'.

Before I contact SMG, is there any way I can verify this by myself... I can't seem to find anything at all definitive.
Maybe someone has the grande DVD and can look it up?

Tim, I looked on the Fernwood DVD, no 'Iole'.
Keep in mind that none of the photos shown on sempervivum-liste.de are taken in the winter/early spring. They are from summer.
I have some of my heuffelii that go through huge changes of color through the different seasons. So lets see what you 'Iole' looks like this summer. Thumbs up
It sure looks nice and healthy.

Hmmm, wonder if he has any summer photos of his, and what it looks like now?

Good idea. Would a tree-mail be reasonable? I will do that.

I would be totally amazed if a green-leafed, purple-tipped Heuf with no leaf outlines in Winter were to morph into a red-leafed, no-tipped Heuf with green leaf outlines in Spring and Summer. I suppose stranger things have happened. Also, jkbingh's photo was taken in April and is still green with dark tips.

Update: tree-mail sent to jkbingh.

More fuel for the fire. This looks just like semp-list's 'Iole' but is 'Ioze' with a 'z'. D'Oh!
Of course semp-list has an 'Ioze' which looks like a whole different thing. Grumbling

Hello everybody. I just got the email Tim sent me. I'm at work now but will look through my records tomorrow and see but I believe I got mine from SMG as well. I will look also for some more pictures. I just got it last year so it will look different this spring as it has acclimated to our weather here. I hope everyone is getting geared for spring. I'm excited Hurray!

'Ioze' is an introduction by SMG. It is one of Don's introductions. I see we only have one photo entered for it in our database.

Tim,

The only information I have on 'Iole' is that it's a seedling from S. heuffelii from Jacupica and is a sibling to 'Ithaca' and a bunch of others that start with the letter "I". 'Ithaca' I do grow and it's rather nice and has given some decent seedlings too. Ben Zonneveld introduced a bunch of nice heuffs. My favorite of his is 'Vesta'.

I think 'Iole' and 'Ioze' and maybe others are all SNAFU'ed in a tangled web that will never be straightened out. But that's just one man's opinion. Glare
