Some thoughts on your thoughts...

Could not agree more about peas... No need to cook. They are just so good off the plant. (My wife is the oddball here, she actually prefers peas from a can from the store. It's what she grew up with and the taste of fresh ones are so different it seems like something other than peas to her Shrug! )

My kids always thought radish seeds looked like the candies known as 'Nerds'. I tend to agree. Nerds taste better to my kids though...they are not radish fans, or fans of the seeds. Yes, they've tried those too...they look like 'Nerds' after all.

Pumpkins are fun IF you have the room for them. Naturally, the kids love the pumpkins for decoration purposes and they are huge fans of roasted pumpkin seeds.

Watermelon is tricky if you live in the North, but IS doable, but probably not much fun for kids since they just don't produce up here like they do in warmer areas. (Sugar Baby, New Hampshire Midget, and Yellow Doll are all smaller varieties that do a bit better in my area).

And I gotta agree with Dave on the sunflowers... My kids enjoyed growing those more than any other plant ever. They grow super fast, have huge blooms and produce tons of one their favorite healthy snacks.

Great feedback, Rob. Thanks for sharing! Extra good point about watermelons in the north. Thumbs up

You're right about the "Nerds"! Now that you mention it, I'll never again see radish seeds without thinking about nerds!
