Ginger Twist is BIG! That was one of the most notable things about it. I actually purchased it in honor of my dog, Ginger.
...and this is crazy, but seriously ONE HOUR before this was posted as the Daylily of the Day, I was just talking about this plant with my husband because I had just purchased a daylily online that I wanted to cross this with. I have never mentioned Ginger Twist to him before. (In fact, I rarely discuss *any* particular daylilies with him.) Weird coincidence.
Anyway, none of that helps readers know anything about the plant, so here's what I can say that may be of some use!:
* It's big, it has fairly good color (I don't recall any sun bleaching to speak of or any ugly blooms)
* It may be a difficult pod setter (I pollinated 8 Ginger Twist blooms with pollen from 5 different pollen parents and none of them set a pod)
* very difficult pollen parent - I pollinated 48 blooms (on 20 different daylily cultivars) with Ginger Twist last year, and only 4 of them set a pod (and I suppose it's possible those are bee pods, at that low rate; I may have to see what the seedlings end up looking like before I could confirm that Ginger Twist was the actual pollen that fertilized it)
Despite it being a terrible hybridizing parent so far, it's still a pretty flower. If you're not planning to hybridize with it, I would say this is a great, large bloom with a pretty form and a nice, subtle chevron-shaped eye that is appealing in the garden.
