For years, when I went to a site (such as Google Images) and right-clicked on a photo, I was able to click on "copy" and then could go to my photo album, and paste that photo there. No more. Now when I right-click on a picture, "copy" doesn't even show up. I have to click on "Save image as...." and then go through a convoluted series of steps to finally be able to get that photo pasted to my album.

What's going on?

I don't know if anything is going on since I've always had to do it that way. The only photos I could copy and paste are my own.

Where is the album to which you are attempting to add/copy/paste the images? Is it on NGA?

I have Windows 10 so I just did a quick test. I pulled up Google Images of Orchids; selected one at random; right clicked to Copy Image and was able to add the image to an email I was composing - success. Then did the same process and tried to add the image to NGA...nope, it did not work. Don't think it is the Windows 10 causing the problem.

I have 7, Greene, not 10. When you pull up a photo in Google Image, and right click on it, does "copy" show?

The "Copy Image" option shows up for me on the context menu (right-clicked on an image in Google Image Search in Firefox 52 on Windows 7). Which browser are you using, Ken?

Chrome and sometimes Explorer. I can use Firefox but have to go into it to do so and that 's takes some effort (and expertise, that I don't have).

Hi Ken,

The "Copy Image" option is still there on Chrome for me as well. Is it every site that is exhibiting this problem, or just Google Image Search?

That is true, although really disabling the context menu is just a hindrance, rather than an absolute solution. They can be bypassed, although the implementation can change the level of difficulty. The most common way is a using JavaScript - all you need to do is turn off JavaScript execution or using something like ScriptBlocker. Ways involving CSS (the styles applied to make the page look nice) just require more work and some familiarity with web design, typically.

However, in the case we're discussing, I don't think this is the issue. Ken still has the context menu, as he can select "Save image as"; however, the "Copy Image" option is missing. My guess is that this will affect all websites he visits, not just Google.

Folks, I do get the "Copy Image" but when I click on that I can never find where the image went. I was referring to the loss of "Copy", not "Copy Image". Perhaps someone can tell me where to find my picture after I click on the "Copy Image". I told you I am computer- illiterate. D'Oh!

Ken I have the same thing...had windows 7 now 10 and still the same...I can copy but but it won't paste anywhere. I always just saved the image to my pictures folder then used it from there. I could never did it any another way. Shrug!

Shortcut

Open a folder where you would like the image to be located. Drag and drop the photo from Google Image search into the folder.

I don't see how you can do this, Stewart. If I am in Google Images, and have my "Pictures Library" opened. Moving an image to that library tab just doesn't seem to work. But let's say it does work. How do I find that image in my library? I literally have hundreds of pictures in that library. I apologize for being so dense about all this.

That works for me Stewart, thanks!

Ken can you make a new folder in your library just for "copied" pictures and name it that? Then you will know right where it is.

You should be able to do this with any image.
Testing: I created a new empty folder under my Temp directory and named it Ken. I place my mouse over your photo and drag it over to the folder I just created and release the mouse. I now have a photo in my temp directory

I think Stewart's approach might work for you, Ken.

Sorry I misunderstood what you meant with regards to "Copy" vs. "Copy Image". "Copy Image" puts the image on the clipboard - you then need to paste it somewhere.

Am no techie person, but have noticed sometimes when I copy something I have to do a search (little box on top right) or go to Recently visited. Tho there are times I just say .. didn't need it and go on !

Good Luck,
Peggy
