I moved into a house with a garden in back that has not been tended in a LONG time. I was wondering if anyone could help me identify these plants. I'm planning on removing them if I cannot find out what kind of plants they are. I'm living in Minnesota!

Welcome to NGA, Christi ( @dalbenie ).

When you say the garden hasn't been tended "in a long time," do you mean years? If so, I would suspect most of what is growing is weeds that have taken advantage of the situation. If you are interested in planting this year I'd suggest cleaning them out and starting anew; otherwise, you could wait and see if there is anything desirable growing.

Reminds me of Monarda (bee balm.) If so, the crush dried debris could yield that minty odor, IDK.
