If any of you remember my posting last year about my 2 mloko. seeds that germinated and how excited I was about that "momentous" event... here is an update: The 2 seeds were planted in the fall of 2015, and came up in the middle of April. They each developed a couple of tiny leaves right next to the ground, but never changed at all through the summer... but they lived! This year they both came up on Mar.20, and they have stems about an inch tall with 3 leaves about ready to unfurl! While I certainly don't expect them to bloom, I do believe they will develop into small plants. Right now (if nothing happens to them) I will go out on a limb and predict that they will bloom in 2019! Mama mloko. is going to have tremendous bloom this year... she increases in size and in number of flowers every year... she is my pride and joy!

Oh congratulations Linda. What an accomplishment. I ordered Molly for the botanical garden. It will arrive this fall along with another 15 plants from three growers.

I planted seeds last fall and am so excited to see if any germinate. 20 were from my Lemon Chiffon and the rest from packets given to me from the APS seed sales. They were not fresh, which my LC were. They are in small pots buried in the ground where I will be sure not to forget where I put them or step on them.

Linda that is exciting! They have started a Peony species page on Facebook, so you might want to look that up and follow it. I have learned from it.

Wow, that is so wonderful, Linda! Mloko is a much coveted peony! I am glad the seedlings survived the first year and are growing taller this year. Congrats!

I have 2 Molly seedlings from Swensons Gardens, at least 1 of them should bloom this year. Also have some I grew from APS seeds, 2 that are starting their 3rd spring and a couple of brand new ones this spring!

Liz- What was the year of germination for your seedling that you expect to bloom this year? Do you think 4 years is realistic for me to expect for mine? Sounds like you have quite a group coming along! Very encouraging... do you have pictures of your seedlings?

The ones that will bloom this year were purchased as seedlings from Swenson, sorry! If I had to judge from the size of the ones I have from seed they were probably 3-4 years old when I bought them and it took 2 years to see buds. Most peonies increase slower here than in more hospitable areas, though, so yours might be quicker.
