I was sent 3 of these from what I believe to be a reputable grower, they were labeled as 'Fine Mess' by Sutton
I think I was sent the wrong Iris? Confused

Hello Drjess09,
I think there is a chance but I really don't know. I've seen broken colour irises look very different at times. When I compare your photo to the ones on Twiki the beards and the veining around the beards look similar. It will be interesting to see what the other two look like. I would ask the vendor you purchased it from.

this is supposed to be a note from the hybridizer about 'fine mess'.
the description doesn't match your pictures Confused but i don't know what it is?

however, i would ask the vendor, and send the pictures you posted here. if that helps?

I have had one broken color iris that had one rhizome revert back to a solid color. Since the broken color can be the result of a virus, perhaps one is grown that doesn't have it from time to time. Shrug!

If you go to the database and look up "Ziggy" you can see what Robin is talking about. Lots of variety in those pictures.

If more blooms open, and none of them are broken color then I would get ahold of the vendor and tell them you were sent the wrong iris. Most all vendors will send you one to correct their mistake.

That is the 3rd bloom and is representative of all so far.

Welcome! Drjess09. Looks like all the blooms were on the one plant. Are the others going to bloom? I'd wait to contact the growers until I had bloom from more than one if they will bloom this year.

I disagree. I have never had a broken color iris that has no broken color blooms.

The number you ordered doesn't change the fact that the one blooming is not correct. I have ordered multiples before and had one correct and another incorrect. I would not wait too long to contact the vendor as many only replace within the first year.

I contacted the vendor (blue j Iris) 5 days ago and sent them the same pictures. No response yet.

Don't give up. They are often slow to respond.
