I just picked up some firewood from a neighbor down the street and noticed these tiny black bugs on a few pieces of wood. A few larger logs had a ton of them. They don't have wings so I didn't think they were termites. I'm comfortable using them for the outdoor fire pit but was a little weary to bring them inside just in case. Can anyone identify them or have any experience with firewood bugs? Thank you!!!

It's a little hard to tell from the small picture but this link will give you some information about termites: https://www.terminix.com/blog/...

We have a wood stove, bring in wood from an outdoor woodshed, and store it in a wood box indoors. We get a few bugs that, normally dormant due to the cold, but after warming up indoors, become active. We've never found termites though. Unless you have a need to bring the wood indoors, I wouldn't be too concerned.

If you find little holes in the wood look up Powder Post Beetles. Common in old wood piles around here.
