Recent cutting of Plectranthus 'Mona Lavender' has started.

Between work & spending most "plant time" dragging hose from thirsty plant to thirsty plant, haven't caught Easter cactus blooms open, but love the pops of red with the Coleus companions.


Purple waffle (Hemigraphis) blooms are so small, but they are doing.

Mind you these aren't "outside," more so indoors in a Lowes' garden center, but I thought I'd share.

I found these today while browsing (I didn't pick up anybody to take home though ). Sorry, not the best picture. The camera on my phone likes to be selective in what it focuses on.

Pilea mollis 'Moon Valley'




Aridisia humilis: Sadly, these are just buds, but it's not something I've seen before. I purchased one of these last week on clearance for $1. Poor thing lost a good bit of leaves from what looks like overheating on the delivery truck and/or sunburn. But, I saw potential and it still has quite a few leaves left!

This plant (in pot outside) looks like the very popular household neighborhood one that bloom with icy white flowers... but today it surprisingly opens its first bod for a dark red flower! (still don't know the name)

This one (Pineapple Guava) is outside plant, in ground not in pot. But really like to share it's special form of beautiful flowers. (don't know how to share the fruits with you guys later in Fall though)

Wax Begonia.


The dark leaves with light pink blooms are Begonia 'Castaway.'

Can you propagate wax begonia? Or should I ask, how easy is it to do so?

Yes! I literally cut or snap stems and stick them where I want more, in pots or in the ground. If you can truly forget it for a few days, it's pretty much guaranteed! LOL!

If they are well-established outside, the roots survive over winter here, usually. Could be worth a try where you are too, especially if you have a spot near a patio or walkway, where the sunshine always keeps the ground warmer via the concrete/pavement, than exposed, surrounding area.

I got a potted hanging basket at HD the other day for $5 (they marked it down from $9) and I am hoping to have some for next year.

Absolutely! I've had that light pink one for years... 6? If you can keep the pot near a direct sun window over winter, the blooms should continue.

Ooo! I got a red one, nothing fancy. What about purslane? I found this... double? flowering one and I'd love to propagate it too.

Absolutely! Portulaca grandiflora, umbraticola, and others take root extremely easily from cuttings, and grow quickly, continuing to bloom while they take root. Awesomely fun plants to play with all summer. https://garden.org/thread/go/5...

Haven't heard much about blooms lately. Swedish ivy / creeping Charlie (Plectranthus verticillatus) is doing its' thing. What's blooming@ your house?

This Hoya has been blooming for months.

I have three large hanging baskets of portulaca and I hate to think of them being thrown away. How can I keep them over the winter in the greenhouse? Can you keep the old plans or must you keep cuttings and start them? I know they seed themselves sometimes when left outside, but these will freeze if I leave them outside because of the pots. They are pot bound at this point also.HELP!

You could bring the pots inside, &/or take cuttings.
