This is the first season for bloom on this one, planted Fall of 2015. It does not seem to match anything I ordered that year. Anyone have any ideas? (I know the photos aren't great, just quick phone snaps before work) Also, apologies if there is an existing thread for this type of request, I am new to the forum.

Welcome! brozeus! a fellow Wisconsinite Smiling I have never tried any of the AB's up here, good to see it can be done. If you can, it's often successful to contact the vendor where you purchased it and let them know that it doesn't seem to be the one you ordered. Often they will know what it is, and will usually replace the one that was incorrect with the correct one. Good luck.

Welcome! brozeus.

I don't grow any arils but I had a quick at the Superstition Iris garden facebook page and I think one possibility worth considering is "Tiny Pirate".
How tall is your iris? Is it tiny?

Brozeus , Arilbreds are hard to I.D. very few photos except the newer ones. In my opinion from your photos it is Shepaug River. I have this photo of mine

Thanks for the welcome messages all!

@Totally - funny you mention Tiny Pirate, that is on my wish list for 2017 Big Grin It is normal sized however, so I don't think that is it.

@arilbred - I think you're right! Thank You! I had been considering that one too; mine just demonstrates more purple than the "porcelain blue" I have seen in most images, including yours. I suppose it could be that the flower just opened and will fade a bit.

Brozeus, that's a second day bloom it's more lavender the first day and PH could be a factor. Here's a first day I wouldn't usually post a photo in a shadow the purple shows more

When I saw your photo I thought it looked familiar. When Arilbred suggested Shepaug River I knew why. I looks like my Shepaug River. And yours is about the right height.

Yep, I am fully convinced now. Good point on the PH too. Looks just like yours @coboro. Glad I posted! I normally post primarily on the Gardenweb forums, but I think I might be spending more time here I tip my hat to you.

To any aril growers-I know Superstition gardens is a great source (have my 2017 buy all planned out lol) but do you have any other recommended suppliers?

I echo the welcome. Yes, we will be happy to see more pictures of Arilbreds. I grew one years ago. This year I am buying two, Desert Snow and Parable, which are said to be very easy. At last week's flower show, two members exhibited lovely stalks of Desert Snow.

Welcome!

Superstition has a great variety of arils. I think @coboro and @arilbred could best tell you other good vendors for them. They unfortunately don't do real well here as it is too humid and wet.

The Aril Society International has a plant sale every year. You can get some interesting arils there.

They haven't posted any details of this years sale, but here's the link.

And I second the idea of Superstition Gardens as a good source. We visited two springs ago and bought nine new (for us) arils. The plants were great when they came in August. (Or July. I don't remember exactly when I had them shipped.)
