I grew Red Pontiac last season. Nice potatoes, but they stayed fairly small for me and they did not produce nearly as much as other varieties that I tried last year.

Nice looking patch of potatoes. Red Pontiac is one I grow along with Superior. I only need around 60 or so plants expecting a yield of around 4 pounds or more per plant. I also grow a few of Yukon Gold with good yields, of around 6 pounds.

Do you market garden?

No I store them. They generally last me through till next year.

Why so many? There must be almost a ton there. I use about 150 pounds from October to March. I supplement with sweet potatoes about 50 pounds also. After six months storage I usually discard them due to sprouting and softness.

I give some to family and friends. Some are lost during the storage,
and they are a beautiful plant to watch grow.
