This grows as a ground cover in my perennial West Garden.It's multi-leafed, growing from a taproot, canoe shaped leaves that are pink on the underside, showing an all most purple tip at night, easily removed from moist ground, fast spreading growing to 2"-3", but a real pest you want to remove before mulching.

This plant [which I suspect] I've i d'd myself is a sunflower. In my West Garden, under my bird feeders they sprout and grow quickly. I've found them also in the small Vegetable Garden we keep in the N.E. portion [in honor of those parents who are gone], but where the wild turkeys poop. I'll keep you informed, as the plants grow very quickly & if Mother Nature is kind.
