I know we have to prepare and realize that our dogs just can't live forever. But boy it is devastating to loose one Sighing!
This little girl was kicked out to the cow pasture by her original family when she was 5 years old.
She cried and barked incesantly trying to get back to her family. She chewed thru metal cables, she tried everything! They put a bark collar on her to keep her quite and scolded her hard when she got loose and came to the house. Sad

It took me 3 long years to talk them out of her. Finally, they let me bring her home. Lovey dubby
We already had 2 big dogs and really didn't want 3 but my heart just couldn't stand her pain, confusion, and abandonment.
She came to our house and soon we had the matted hair smoothed, the cow pies cleaned off, and the abscessed teeth removed.
Our boy dogs accepted her into the family right away Group hug
Well, that was 3 loving years ago. I can honestly say that the 1000's of $$ for her care was entirely worth every minute. She had the sweetest little face and just couldn't get enough loving. She was usually sweet and loving but boy she sure could boss those boys around Hilarious!
We are going to miss her very, very much.

I'm so glad you rescued her and gave her the life she deserved. It's too bad she started out with horrible parents.
Group hug Group hug It really is hard when you lose one, but know you gave her a great rest of her life. I'm sure the boys will miss her too.

You were there for her to give her all the love she should have had from birth. She had wonderful years with you, it shows by the smile on her face. It hurts now but the memories you have will help lessen the pain. She was a lucky dog to be so loved by you.

Toni, I can't begin to describe (and I'm not really sure why this is) how many more tears I've shed over pets than my human friends. It sure hasn't seemed to get any easier with each time I've gone through it... but the love that we get from them still makes it all worthwhile. Lovey dubby

Yes Sandy it is totally worth it. Each time I go through the pain and loss - I say ok. No more! But that resolve melts quickly and back in I go nodding

I agree with Sandy. It never gets easier, and I make that resolve each time, but quickly find another rescue sweetie. They're so worth it, and give us so much joy. I'm glad you have the others, Toni, to help. We've generally only had one dog at a time, and when they go, the house is so empty and sad.

A pet is truly a gift that can change your life and bring you monumental happiness and gratitude. Pets teach you responsibility, patience, kindness, discipline, playfulness and, most importantly, unconditional love. Even if your dog chews your couch, scratches your doors, and manages to eat every sock you own, you still figure out a way to share your home and heart with your companion.

The death of a pet can hurt as much as the loss of a close relative or friend. It is common for humans to have conflicts with family members over religion, money, politics and so forth—conflicts that may create emotional distance between them. Humans and pets do not have these types of conflicts—pets are 100 percent dependent on their human companion. Yes, you may become angry at your dog for chewing your shoelaces or leaving a “surprise” on your carpet, but these feelings of frustration and anger quickly dissipate after your pet looks up at you with funny ears and wide-open eyes.
Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love Truly, Laugh
uncontrollably, And never regret anything that made you Smile.

Toni, I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet girl. How wonderful that you were able to give her three great years. Hard to move on but so much better than if she had stayed in her original and abusive home. That she was able to experience the love and care that you gave her is a gift that will live forever. The tears will keep coming for a while; the great memories will remain always. Katie
