Iris cristata. Bloomed for about 2 weeks, when the cherry blossoms were falling. So delicate and lovely. Surrounded by cherry blossom petals, they were an early spring highlight here.
Immortality. I wanted to photograph Clarence too, but every blossom got battered by the rain. Luckily, Immortality opened this morning, before... you guessed it, more rain! The icy blue buds are intriguing; the blossoms are pure and perfect; and this stalk has held up well through day-long rain. I love this one!
Rustler. OMG, this one took my breath away. Only one bloom for me on this first year plant. (The scape got rained out I think.) But what a bloom!
Incidentally, Clarence, Immortality, and Rustler all have lovely scents. Clarence most of all. The scents are just as lovely as the flowers I think - incredibly sweet, yet mild and refreshing at the same time. I can't wait for Before the Storm and Absolute Treasure to make a showing now. And I look forward to these plants becoming established clumps.
Lastly, I think I'm going to try to get only fragrant irises from now on. That'll narrow the field and double the fun! Do you have any favorite ones?
