This was posted on FaceBook earlier today. Since no one offered suggestions, I thought this group might be more productive. I received this iris last year as Battle Star. It bloomed this week and is obviously mislabeled. The seller said she didn't have anything like it in her garden. Confused It is a very pretty late bloomer--just needs a name.

It's very pretty, but I don't know what name goes to it.

It is more modern but looks like could be related to Truly Yours, unfortunately almost no pictures of descendants. It could be a seedling no one detected as it hadn't bloomed yet.

Been looking for a white self with yellow beard and markings like yours in the database and all I can find is

So could be a seedling perhaps?
Of course I talk to myself; sometimes I need expert advice!

Lilli,

That was the name he was given by the grower.

Thanks for the input everyone. I know I haven't seen anything like it before. It was really baffling when the seller said she hadn't either. It did put on a lot of increases last fall and seems to like our hot and humid climate. I guess I will hold onto it awhile.

Yes, I know - but was trying to say that if it wasn't that iris, it might be a seedling of it?

If you're on Facebook and a member of Iris Lovers, check out a post by Mike Starrhill posted this morning showing photos "Even more pics from a friend's garden". The first pic is "Good Looking" but further into the album is an iris that looks very much like your noid, it is called Shawnee Whisper. Just saw it and thought I'd pass it along Smiling

I don't think I've seen you on this forum before so Welcome! Traci, thanks for stopping by to help out another iris friend!

I'm thinking the seedling theory is very likely.

Here is the a screen capture of your seedling next to a photo of Battle Star's pod parent New Moon:

Thanks for trying to help out and WELCOME! I, too, saw that on FB and got excited for a moment. However, the form and beard color weren't quite right.

I've been doing more searching and may have found a couple of possibilities.

The form and beard color look right. The color also looks close--perhaps variation in lighting/time of day. Lighting and camera angles can be tricky. My NOID actually looks more yellow on Day 1 and "in person".
