It might be a bit early for this thread but I know we have a few members who's peony season is over already, the rest of us can add to it later. Looking back, which peonies had an amazing showing for you this year? Are those varieties always a top performer or did any of them take you by surprise this year? And which ones did you just have to stop and stare at because they were so amazingly beautiful this season? I don't want to assign a specific number so just start putting out pictures and tell us about your amazing peonies!

Yes, it would be interesting to know who has really strong stems, or really unusual colors (single or blends). I would also be interested to know height. I am pretty sure yours (especially Dan's) seem to grow taller than mine. I sure don't need six foot stakes.

Pastelegance! The best showing I've seen from this peony.

Have to think about it for a bit. But the first one that jumps out to me is Magical Mystery Tour. It seemed to bloom for a long time. Strange that most of the ones that did well last year did not bloom well this year. Some herbaceous peonies were extra floppy with long necks that I did not notice from prior years.

Oh My! They take my breath away! Do you have it in full sun, Craig? Do you treat it any differently to get blooms like above?

It has been a very busy summer for me so I could not post on this thread . But things are much calmer now so I can go back and see which peonies did well for me this year. My top ones would be:

Edited to add pics.
Magical Mystery Tour for being the longest blooming peony lasting 13 days.

You really do plant ours close together and yet they look huge and healthy with tons of blooms. Hard to get between to weed though. Course they are so close maybe the weeds don't stand a chance.

I miss spring too! This year's growth season has gone by so fast. It is also getting so much cooler already. My tomatoes are taking a hit with degrees in the 50's. Not looking forward to winter. I should not be complaining though given what happened with Harvey and now Irma. Seems like my snowstorms and ice are mild in comparison to their flooding.

Mary, as close as they are, the weeds manage to come through. Due to the regular rains we have had this summer, the weeds have a field day.

Almost all my peonies are new and need a few years to develop. However, I was really impressed with the performance of a single pink so called Apricot bought from BulbsDirect in spring 2016 as a 2-3 eye root. It already gave 1 flower the same year. This year I was amazed that the bush grew 3-fold and gave 6 flowers! They had a slight odor and closed for a night, bees loved them! Me too Lovey dubby
