Guess I'll start it off with Rick's seedling, (L. davidii v. willmottiae x Olina) X ( Tinos x Olina):

Here is a better photo of that seedling. It is a good solid orange, not yellow. My camera picks up the brightest areas as yellow, it is not yellow. It also has fuzzy buds. I have three more seedlings from this cross that will bloom, one other has a fuzzy bud.

It would be easy to say that your fuzzy buds, Pard, came exclusively from L. davidii, but I'm not so sure. Even though L. davidii was the only grandparent with fuzzy buds, the cross of Tinos x Olina produced progeny that segregated into two groups:

If you can change the white balance on your camera, try changing it from "auto" to "sunny" or "cloudy". That will influence how colors {yellow and orange especially) are rendered by the camera.

So I'm cheating... not blooming but anticipation is part of the fun. A seedling of 'Napa Valley' with just the form I was hoping for...first year bloom expected this year.

Another cross to bloom very soon is 'Yellow Whoppers' x 'Firetruck'. Two stem will bloom.

Very interesting! This should be a good strong plant that offsets and clones well. I love the color--especially the reverse. A winner, for sure!

The second to bloom from Rick's cross (L. davidii v. willmottiae x 'Olina') X ('Tinos' x 'Olina'). the first was upfacing, this one is out to down facing.
