A Munson that I have kept because of the radiant color. Still attracts attention in the garden. Most Munsons aren't very sunfast; I don't recall about this one.

It's nice to see people saving these classic Munson daylilies. I was fortunate to have visited Wimberleyway many, many years ago before it closed and remember that Munson was actively hybridizing with BUENOS AIRES at the time of his death. BUENOS AIRES is historically of some importance because this particular cultivar was giving rise to some unusually colored watermarks in its seedlings. I purchased a seedling from it because I had never seen a watermark that had this peachy color.....it is a cross of SHISHEDO X (LADY AMARAH X BUENOS AIRES).....and I still grow it in my garden today. Once in awhile it has gentle pleating in the throat....another feature that sometimes appeared in Munson cultivars. Some of these features did not escape the attention of the young Curt Hanson, who was also buying Munson seedlings that week!!! The beautiful southwestern colors and unusually colored watermarks in Curt's lines are the result of his using some of these special daylilies in his early hybridizing career.
