Good morning! I am a new gardener. About 4 weeks ago (5-7-17) I prepared a bed with top soil and compost and planted astilbe and toad lily rhyzomes as directed, in part sun. They are still there, and the rhyzomes are about 3 times the size, but they haven't emerged from the soil at all yet. When should I expect growth above the surface? Thanks!

Welcome!

When they are ready. Newly planted plants have to do a lot of things before getting around to emerging from the ground. Yours are bulking up and growing roots. Be patient.
