Well it's the first day of Summer, time for a new thread. Are your Hibiscus, blooming, have you bought new plants, got some seeds started? Let us know what's going on with your Hibiscus and be sure to post photos.

Here's the first bloom of my Neches River Rosemallow, Hibiscus daysycalyx. Hopefully with the amount of buds there will be many more. I forgot to mention this was grown from seed and it's in it's 2nd summer. No blooms last year on it.

It's great that you grew that one from seed, Chris. Very pretty! As soon as we are fully moved, I want to start trying seeds.

That's a pretty one, Jay. Love the deep color.

Wow! That is stunning, and such a great surprise! Any idea of the ID? Do you have it outdoors or indoors? That one is so pretty, you should make cuttings and grow more. I have a plain orange hibiscus that roots really easily.

It would be great if you go to your profile and list your general area and heat zone.

I purchased these at my local nursery in the annual area. No names they are only about a foot tall. Tiny plants in a 4" pot Being short I did not think they would bloom as much as they have this summer.

Those tropical hibiscus are beautiful, Cinta. Lovey dubby I normally over winter my hibiscus (dormant) in my garage in my zone 8a area. But last year those small (fancy) hybrids did not come back. Blinking I just bought another pot on clearance, but I'm going to keep them somewhere indoors this winter. nodding

The others (such as Painted Lady), I'm going to place under the house. I had potted brugs that survived over the winter in that area last year. I think it's warmer there than in the garage. Hopefully there will be less clutter in the garage, giving DH less reasons to complain. Rolling my eyes.

@Deebie
Before my love got sick I use to do good wintering them in the window. I even would get a bloom or two through the winter. I am going to give it a try this winter, Since I do not have anything to take care of maybe I will keep them alive.
I am going to try to keep the Caladiums over the winter too, Dormant of course though.

Fill that garage Dhs live to complain it keeps their blood pumping. Rolling on the floor laughing

Hilarious! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Thanks, Cinta. And do grow those hibiscus on the window sill. You can place the caladiums in smaller pots and bring them indoors to continue to enjoy until they decide to go dormant. I sometimes do that. Last year was just such a disaster that I did not have time to organize things. In October we had hurricane Matthew and I had to keep my parents here as they had to evacuate. And at the last minute, I had to throw everything I had into the garage to keep them from drowning or being blown away. It was a jumbled mess. We lost 5 huge 25+ year old trees in that storm. And then a few weeks later we had our 1st hard freeze. Note, I did not say frost. Grumbling
