Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Lime Frost')

It took a year or two for this one to get going in my garden, however, it was on the small size when I purchased it, so that's probably understanding.

I love the green throat in this pretty DL. Has not opened yet this year (2017). I believe more rain enhances the green throat. We have had a lot of rain so I expect it to see a nice green throat this year.

Lime Frost opened just yesterday (June 23) here, I always forget how much I like this one. Just a nice height, a slight ruffle, and I like the green throat against the white flower. It has never failed to flower even when it was very crowded by a big shrub, and the flowers are always open nicely very early in the morning.

I acquired 'Lime Frost' back in March 2014, from G.H. Wild. The fans were very tiny. Now, I have two large clumps and one small clump. The two large clumps bloomed out yesterday, but the small clump which was divided from one of the larger clumps last year, was later blooming this year so it has extended the bloom time for 'Lime Frost'. It had three nice blooms this morning. The plant has a decent rust resistance rating but still does display quite a bit of rust at times. It is not an extremely prolific bloomer, the large clumps only produced 8-10 scapes with an average of 9 buds per scape. The large clumps have not sent up rebloom scapes yet.

I have had LIME FROST for many years. It has a nice cooling effect in the garden with the white petals and green throat. It is hardy in Zone 5 and is a consistent bloomer. It will always have a place in my garden due to these characteristics.

Lime Frost was a gift from my friend Jennie Sivyer. It has been a star performer in my garden, lots of blooms even in partial shade. I am waiting for this year's buds to open, I absolutely love this one 😊

I pulled 12 scapes from a second clump of 'Lime Frost' this morning. The scapes averaged a height of 28 inches, they mostly had two way branching but three of them did have three way branching. Like the first clump I checked earlier in this thread it still averaged 9 buds per scape.

Lime Frost keep getting better with age. Blooms for a long time and displays multiple blooms on a daily basis.

I bought Lime Frost in the early 2000s, from Seawright Daylilies. It was $35 which was a lot for a Daylily back then! The most I ever paid for one up until that point but I fell in love with perfect form, the diamond dusting, the green throat.

I planted it in the Island bed, where it resided for a number of years until that bed started to get overrun so I moved it to Upper Daylily Hill, near the middle.front. It's still kicking, it doesn't seem to have formed much of a clump, a slow increaser. There's also a lot of competition on the Hill. It is still putting on a good show, producing almost thirty blooms between July 18 and August 5th this summer ( 2021)

2022… low flower production, only saw 13 blooms. I'm sure it needs dividing.

2023, a better year for Lime Frost. Blooming from July 5-29, I counted 25 blooms.
